• Carl climbs into CARL’s pocket and disappears
  • CARL climbs into their own pocket, vwoorping out of existence

Story Time

• Cynlant apologizes for the various assassins that have come after the party
  • apparently Granny Nightshade birthed him
    • to the partyrew this is atypical, but they don’t know much more
  • when he was up with Bahamut
    • he was called a stain
    • they also told him that he shouldn’t have been born
  • as a cost for reviving Joaquin and Prince Derendil, he sold his free will
  • Cynlant’s patron, Granny nightshade sent the assassins
    • due to his peculiar birth he has a spark from her within him
  • Cynlant was born by magic
    • his father was also born under unusual circumstances
    • a cult of Selune and Mystra attempted to bind Mystra to a physical body
    • it failed birthing Cynlant’s father, Magus and his 7 siblings
  • they are scions, beings with a divine spark who are able to under go apotheosis
• Oneshoe asks Yvelia what her relation with her patron is
  • Yvelia mentions her retirement plans
    • big manor by the ocean with massive gardens
    • owning tons of land
      • Oneshoe questions how
      • through legal means
  • she also mentions she has other plans
    • Cynlant and Oneshoe question if her intentions are pure
    • they detect they are… for now
  • Cynlant is afraid that Yvelia will double cross the party
    • she promises not to backstab him or slit his throat while he sleeps
    • Cynlant distrusts her even more
  • the party prod her more into her plans
    • she is with the partyrew because of her contract
    • also because she has errands to run
  • the party distrusts her
  • Cynlant says that to be a party they need to be able to trust her
  • in order to assuage his anxieties, she talks about how the Underdark needs “New Management”
    • Cynlant feels better after hearing this
• Yvelia attempts to deflect by asking Oneshoe more about herself
  • Yl’lib talks about how Oneshoe shit herself in the third grade
    • she never went to school, but she did shit herself to cause a distraction for her thieves gang
  • In emergencies Oneshoe apparently can and will shit herself
• Oneshoe questions Yvelia’s relation to Mr. F
  • she says its a lot like Oneshoe and Sister
  • not a lot of questions are asked

Travel Continues

• the next few days of travel are uneventful, with the party (mostly Oneshoe) doing icebreakers

The Library of Gravenhollow

• the partyrew hears singing in the distance in 4 languages
• a reptilian with 8 legs, a basilisk
  • it greets the partyrew, and says

I’ve been waiting for you. The library bids me to guide you.

• Cynlant and Oneshoe determine that it wasn’t lying
• the creatures name is Veldyskar
• it leads the partyrew for a few hours to the library
• at first the compass leading to the Library spins around in a different direction
  • eventually it points in the direction Veldyskar is leading

Entrance to Gravenhollow

• the party stands at the entrance to the Library
  • two massive stone giant statues stand on either sides of the gigantic stone door
• Veldyskar lightly pushes the door and it opens
• the party follows inside
• the Library is absolutely enormous and surprisingly well lit
  • endless halls of bookshelf’s lined with well bound books and scrolls
• a stone statue comes off the walls
  • its name is Ourm, and it is a stone elemental
  • there are chambers prepared for the party
  • the masters of the Library are busy for the next few hours
• Oneshoe asks for books on gelatinous cubes, specifically for things concerning Glabagool’s current condition
  • they should be in the archive of the past
• Cynlant asks for books on mysterious gems (the one Yvelia had to find)
• Yvelia asks if there’s any rules which need to be followed
  • they are not to harm anyone, especially the echoes
  • the echoes can be from the past or the future

Echo Encounters

• Onesheo runs up to an echo of the past, a humanoid
  • it dissipates immediately
• she runs up to another
  • it is the ghastly tentacled figure of a mindflayer
  • it begins to speak in an unfamiliar tongue, but Oneshoe manages to understand it
  • it seeks a way to save its dying elderbrain
  • the party recognizes it as the elderbrain which they slayed and that this illithid was the conspirator who the party accidentally betrayed

Oneshoe’s Goo-Pediatric Concerns

• Oneshoe looks around for a giftshop, ascending and descending multiple sets of stairs
• she finds her way back to the entrance
• next she looks for books on Glabagool and his current condition
  • she does not find anything about him the archive of the past or present
  • it appears to be a unique phenomena
• afterwards she looks into tadpoles and ceremorphosis
• Oneshoe then wanders

Cynlant’s Reading Corner

• the boyscouts and the twins move to the library of the present to find books on magical artifacts in the Underdark, specifically the gem from mantol derith

  • the knowledge is surface level, and things the party knows
  • the gem can trap powerful entities
  • there are extremely accurate descriptions of the partyrew members and actions

• next they look for past information on the book

  • the book is first mentioned near Menzoberranzan in the possession of a drow mage
  • the gemstone’s archives seem incomplete, as if the knowledge is not catalogued or not stored in the Underdark

• Yvelia takes the lead

  • they see the Oneshoe skimming books

• a humanoid echo bumps into Yvelia

  • an entity 9-10ft tall purple hued skin 6 fingers hands
  • the man is super-naturally attractive
  • his name is Grotz the demon prince of debauchery
  • after some pleasantries he asks if his fellow demon princes are invading the Underdark
  • she questions if he would invade, and if he would employ succubi (like the one found in Gracklstugh)
  • he does, but it is unlikely that he would
  • Grotz is pleased that they are trying to stop the demon princes
    • he gets down on his knees and thanks Yvelia
  • he breaks off a horn and leaves it on a shelf, saying it will help in the party’s goals in their present
  • Yvelia is smitten
  • Grotz then asks for the location of a female archmage on the surface named Igwel
  • Yvelia recognizes the name but does not know where she is

• Grotz says his goodbyes and flirts with Yvelia as he does

• Yvelia finds a book on the obelisk she hid for Mr. F

  • they are mostly from the Netheril empire, with some predating it
  • it could possibly affect time, be harnessed to manipulate the weave, or to imprison a powerful entity like a demon, devil, or angel

• Yvelia shares this information

  • Cynlant asks to see gemstone from before
  • Yvelia tries to deflect handing the gem

• Ourm from before offers to show the party to the Keeper of the Past, but says he can come back later if they are busy

  • they begin to walk over

Meeting with the Keeper of the Past

• Yvelia and Cynlant go back and forth, with Yvelia continuing to deflect
  • eventually she shares that she no longer is in possesion of it
  • Cynlant is upset at her lies
• Uthar the keeper of the present greets the party
  • he says that he’s never had people act so odd in front of him
  • after some more bickering he remarks on never seeing people fight in front of him
• Uthar gives over a stonespeaker crystal, which can be used in each of the libraries once a day to see visions of the past, present, and future
  • the Library itself summoned the party

Reading the Fates

• Cynlant is still upset at Yvelia for lying about the gemstone

• Oneshoe and Cynlant plan to use their stonespeaker crystals to look into

  1. how the demon lord incursion began
  2. what was imprisoned in the gem

• Yvelia and Cynlant go back and forth at each other

  • Yvelia begins to ignore Cynlant
  • Oneshoe jokes that Mom and Dad are fighting
  • they begin to speak through her

• Oneshoe’s vision fades

  • a drow mage in spider silk robes casts a spell
  • a web of Faerezz dances on his fingers and opens a portal
  • suddenly shrieks and howls are heard
  • two sets of eyes open side by side
  • a series of tentacles rips its way out of a portal
  • the demigorgon appears
  • a woman’s deep dark laughter
  • demonic hordes follow through
  • the drow is holding a gold rimmed, black leather book closed with a claw clasp

• Oneshoe mentions the book

  • Cynlant recognizes that the book Yvelia is looking for is the book
  • he shoots her an extremely dirty look

• Cynlant’s vision fades

  • a rift opens and a gemstone comes out
  • a duegar picks it up
  • the gemstone is passed around through various inhabitants of Mantol-Derith
  • the drow who randomly attacked earlier saw a demonic face in the gem
  • Frazorblul, demon prince of deception

• he whispers to Oneshoe that it contained a demon prince
