Hydra Den Short rest

• the partyrew decides to retreat back to the hydra den to take their short rest

• they setup in a corner with clear sightlines

• Cynlant begins to read a journal from the duegar captain

  • everything started with the arrival of Qualax
  • Qualax started to converting the Empty Scabbards to his cause
  • he replaced the former leader, and started work on an elder brain
  • Qualax performed research in his chamber

• foot steps echo in the distance before the partyrew is fully able to rest

  • they make preparations for combat
  • Cynlant readies his dagger and unleashes his wings
  • Glabagool stands still, blending in with the environment next to Oneshoe
  • Yvelia floats up to the ceiling

• a mindflayer floats up and mind blasts most of the party

• another mindflayer psychically whips at Cynlant and Ront

  • they manage to shrug of the mental effects but still take damage

• an arcanist unleashes a blindingly bright streak towards the partyrew

  • Cynlant reacts quickly, summoning a shield of mystical dragon scales
  • the faerzress reacts, opening up a portal which drops out Bon

• Cynlant leaps into action stabbing brutally twice at a mindflayer

  • it collapses in a gush of purple ichor-like blood

• Oneshoe casts a hypnotic pattern on top of the enemies, and Cynlant

  • two of them are stunned

• Ront moves in and begins bashing a mindflayer

  • its purplish skin grows sickly pale as it is beaten by Ront
  • the third strike caves its head in

• Droopy strolls in and hammers down a derro, slaying

• A soul blade grows to twice his size, then strikes at Ront

  • Ront manages to block the attacks

• a slightly disoriented Bon casts healing word on Ront

  • he also unleashes a guiding bolt
  • the faerzress reacts, causing him, Ally, and Droopy to begin to fly

• CARL is enfurried by the faerzress

  • CARL is rushes over and strikes at the enlarged duegar

• Glabagool finishes scaling the cliff face unleashes a draconic roar

• the arcanist thwiips away with a cast of dimension door

• Cynlant explodiates an intellect devourer

  • he then turns to attack the Tyrant with a divine smite
  • it barely manages to stay alive
  • the faerzress reacts, hasting everyone near by

• the Tyrant unleashes a blast of arcane energy

  • Droopy is compelled to run off the cliff, into the water
  • the faerzress reacts summoning two Oni
  • they rend the Tyrant apart, then disappear

• the partyrew licks their wounds as they wonder how Bon appeared

• they begin to debate how to recover from their wounds

  • they decide to get patched up by Bon

Forward Advance

• the partyrew march through the front gate

• Oneshoe conjures faerie fire, but it finds now enemies

• Cynlant and Ront lead the way

• Yvelia patches up Bon’s dress, again

• the partyrew enter into the former base of the Empty Scabbards

  • Cynlant turns into a room which looks like a laboratory
  • after paging over some journals and inscriptions, he determines experiments were conduced here by a mindflayer

• as is their nature, they find various items

  • 10 healers git
  • mindflayer tools
  • herbalistm kit
  • alchemy jug

Cultivation Pit

• in another chamber lies a depressed area
  • a wide variety of mushrooms are cultivated in the pit
• in a pile of fish skins lie old and moldy parchments
  • they contain old contract to assassination
  • Oneshoe recognizes that some of the contracts are from when the king was possessed
  • there’s newer contracts that lack the king’s mark
• at the edge of the chamber is a ladder
  • Oneshoe flies up, only to find a landing and more ladder
  • Yvelia commands her to get down, saying that she’ll send a less valuable servant
  • Kyem flies for minutes, but doesn’t respond

Forking Path

• the partyrew advance deeper, finding a forked chamber
• cranium rats scurry around the partyrew’s feet
• in one of the forks voices echo
• Cynlant goes invisible, tries to stealth in but is spotted by a mind witness
• blades are drawn
