• Cynlant tries to cure CARL’s infliction
  • it fails at first, followed by intense hacking
  • he tries again, with the bardic inspiration of Oneshoe and Bon’s guidance
  • the CARL’s collectively let loose a large hunk of sputum as their affliction clears up

War Council

• the partyrew makes their way towards the King’s Palace

  • the receive suspicious glances
  • ballista bolts fire off in at mindwitnesses in the distance

• Kharom, Stone Speaker Higram, and other notable members of Gracklstugh society

• Yvelia uses thaumaturgy to speak loudly over the war council

  • she speaks of her authority as the Grand Empress of Faerun
  • the duegar and other people in the room look on in shock
  • Yvelia continues her speech, claiming her title allows here to open a portal to within the Whorlstone Tunnels
  • duegar in attendance begin to murmur about this crazed person
  • Cynlant pipes up, defending Yvelia’s ability
  • in common, Yvelia grumbles about the “stone eaters”
  • the King tells Yvelia to watch her tongue in anger in common
  • she finishes her speech by asking for some guards to protect the portal while the partyrew handles the illithid hive

• disgruntled, the deep King agrees to give 20 men to protect the portal

  • the portal has to be opened outside of the city
  • the partyrew will leave, Slicer, Francine, Bon, and Sheldon to help guard the portal

• if they partyrew is to fail, Bon will close the portal

Private Council

• the King requests small meeting with the partyrew and Keeper of the Flame Kharom
  • in the meeting the King asks the partyrew to slay Themberchaud
  • the partyrew immediately agrees
  • Cynlant grows determined, then does a magical girl like transformation into his armor

Whorlstone Invasion

Preparations

• the partyrew recalls that Empty Scabbards were supposed to be eradicated by the city guards
  • they determine that the government of Gracklstugh might be infiltrated
• the partyrew long rests uneventfully
• Cynlant casts by himself in the corner
• Oneshoe gives an inspiring speech the morning of
• Yvelia orders Kyem to collect the silver keys

Opening the Portal

• the partyrew makes their way to the edge of the city

• the guards make stand by as Yvelia casts Portho’s Portal

• the partyrew step through the portal

  • the room seems near the same as before, except for the absence of the obelisk
  • Yvelia acts clueless, Cynlant and Oneshoe pry
    • Yvelia genuinely doesn’t know where it went
  • Cynlant asks more as he flies her down
    • she mentions it may have gone to Mr. F, but she avoids saying anything definitive

• Glabagool oozes his way through the collapsed tunnel to scout ahead

  • the coast is clear

• the collapsed rubble is about 40ft long

• Oneshoe has her pixie scout above the rubble

  • he finds a path, but it needs more excavating
  • the medium sized partyrew members takes pygmy mushrooms, causing them to shrink in size

First Contact

• once they are halfway through the small rubble-ladden path, Glabagool spots 6 enemies
• Yvelia pops out, fireballs, then hides in a nearby cavern
• the boyscouts jump out, take bigmy mushrooms and strike at the foes
  • the derro in the lead are bloodied
  • Ront bashes a derro’s against the wall, killing it
    • he follows up with javelins at a surviving duegar
• the mindflayers begin to move
  • one releases a cone of psychic energy at Ront, Cynlant, and Glabagool
  • Glabagool is stunned
  • the other mindflayer tries to devour Ront
• Cynlant gets flanked by a duegar
  • he manages to deftly block all the attacks
• CARL pops they’re little heads out
  • the eat a mushroom and grow, before striking at a derro
• a duegar moves forward and hits Ront
• Droopy stabs at a duegar
• Oneshoe casts shatter on 3 of the enemies
• Ally and Yvelia eldritch blast on two of the bloodied enemies
  • they both die
  • Yvelia telepathically mocks one of the mindflayers
• Cynlant leaps into the action slicing one of the mindflayers to death
• Ront bashes the other mindflayer, brutalizing it before he slays it
  • he turns, striking the derro
• CARL strikes at the last standing derro
  • with a flurry of claws, blades, and teeth, he kills the derro

Hydra Chamber

• the partyrew consults their map
  • they decide to traverse through the tunnels near the old hydra’s den
• CARL almost tosses a pastry into the water
  • Oneshoe stops them, eats the pastry
• the partyrew almost leaves the chamber, but before they do a plop echoes behind them
• Oneshoe casts detect thoughts but fails to sense anything
  • CARL also doesn’t have anything in their mind except elevator music
• Oneshoe eldritch blasts the water but it does nothing

Oneshoe Negotiation

• the partyrew nears the gate they were at before
• Oneshoe picks up the mental presence of multiple beings
• Kyem flies invisible, but is detected
• an invisible humanoid voice tells the partyrew to turn back and they will be spared
  • the speaker works for Qualax and defends the hive
• Oneshoe attempts to reason with the being
• Cynlant tries to sneak while invisible towards the source of the voice
  • as he prepares to strike, the enemies move accordingly, as if they can see him

Battle at the Gate

• CARL doesn’t see an exact form to strike, so they conjure a bonfire
  • the creature appears hurt, but manages to stay invisible
• puffs of dust trail closer to Oneshoe
  • suddenly she gets stabbed twice, and manages to shrug off the magical effects
• Oneshoe conjures faerie fire in front of the gate
  • two of the enemies are revealed
• Cynlant flies forward, and flanks the duegar that was stabbing Oneshoe
  • the first hit hurts
  • a dark ink grows from Cynlant forming a cloak which covers the duegar
  • additionally a mechanical key sprouts from his back
• Ront moves forward, smashes twice with his mace
  • he uses the back of it to knock out the duegar
  • he then continues onward, to smash one of the duegar revealed by faerie fire
  • out of the corner of his eye Ront spots move enemies past the gate
• Droopy lets loose two javelins
  • they find purchase
• 3 duegar uses psychic blades to stab at Ront
  • he is stabbed multiple times, and only manages to dodge a few strikes while he is reeling in pain
• Glabagool climbs up the walls of the cavern and dangles from the ceiling
  • he lurches forward and attempts to engulf two of the duegar who attacked Ront
  • one dodges, the other isn’t so lucky
• Yvelia tosses her stone to Ally
  • she floats up to the ceiling, walks on it, then eldritch blasts a duegar
• two antipaladins walk through the gate and stab at Glabagool
• a mindwitness fires 3 rays at the Glabagool
  • he is stunned, slowed, and pushed back
  • Glabagool unconsciously engulfs Droopy
• CARL tries to strike at derro
  • it dodges all their strikes
• Oneshoe casts shatter and healing word
  • the faerez reacts!
  • her feet melt into a gelatinous goo
  • a swarm of geese surround her, pecking and honking at her
• Cynlant flies in and instantly kills the mindwitness
• Ront powders a derro into a fine mist with his mace
• a duegar assassin tosses his dagger and teleports away from the boyscouts
  • he poofs right in front of Oneshoe, who he attempts to stab
  • Oneshoe dodges the attack easily
• Yvelia and Ally blast the duegar
• CARL comes running over, stabbing the duegar in front of Oneshoe killing it
  • little Carl then proceeds to bite at one of the surviving enemies
• the partyrew finishes the last remaining foes

Post Gate Combat

• Cynlant strips the unconscious duegar completely naked
  • he finds armor and a journal
• CARL conjures a goodberry for Oneshoe
  • a illusionary mime version of little Carl appears
• Oneshoe gets pelted by the flock of geese
• the partyrew attempts to take a short rest
