• Yvelia demands a nicer steed and accommodations for the trip

Trip Preparation

• CARL begs Cynlant to be dried off
  • Cynlant misinterprets this, and summons a gust of wind to blow CARL
  • it does little to dry CARL off, and mostly just pushes him
• he realizes his mistake, attempts to dispel the bane afflicting them
  • it fails at first, but he tries again assisted by Oneshoe
  • CARL is still wet, but seems to be drying
• CARL shakes themselves dry, much to a now wet Cynlant’s dismay

Shopping

• CARL looks at various daggers at the market

  • they find one they like, almost steal it, but are goaded in to purchasing it by the other party members
  • the merchant looks at CARL in confusion

• CARL sneaks back later, and manages to steal the dagger without being noticed

• Yvelia commissions luxurious medals with a jackal head eating a gold coin

• Cynlant purchases a chef’s knife for Ront

Expedition Departure

• the forces travel to the surface from Gauntlygrym
• Oneshoe makes an interesting speech as the expeditionary forces prepare to move through the surface
  • she receives a lackluster applause, for a lackluster speech
  • CARL disables to clap for Oneshoe in multiple crowd locations

The Underdark

• the Zhentarim associates guide the forces to an entrance of the Underdark

First Day Travel

• the groups within the forces split and advance through the Underdark as planned
• the inner circle meets to discuss the various happenings
• the Zhentarim avoid directly revealing the directions of travel
• at the end of the first day Droopy conjures a large shelter for the forces

Second Day of Travel

• CARL takes in the sights of the Underdark as the forces travel through a mushroom littered cavern
• the partyrew attempts to gather mushrooms
  • they do not find any of measurable use
• the Zhentarim associates explain that it is roughly 34 days travel

Third Day of Travel

• on the third day Bon stops the forces and announces he has a faster means of travel
  • he orders the forces to gather
  • he places a hand on a giant mushroom, then opens it like a door
  • a dark portal opens
• nobody travels through, but the boyscouts almost do
• the Zhentarim talk amongst themselves in thieves cant
  • Oneshoe picks up on the conversation, discussing what they should do
  • they agree to Bon’s plan
• once the forces are all gathered on, they travel through one of Bon’s Portal
• the scouts note the presence of an Underdark beast den

Fourth Day of Travel

• at the start of the fourth day Bon ushers the forces through a mushroom door
  • they arrive on the other side safely
• CARL experiences faerez for the first time
  • he is captivated

Rumbling

• large booming footsteps echo through the cavern

  • an echoing voice screams RUN
  • Oneshoe recognizes it is of a giant, and that there a multiple sets of footsteps

• Cynlant grabs as many of the inner circle as possible and conjures darkness

  • those except for Oneshoe and Sheldon hide in the darkness

• three stone giants come barrelling through the tunnel

  • shouts follow them, they are in common
  • they say “don’t let them reach the party”

• Oneshoe tries to dispel magic on one of the stone giants

  • it panics, and tosses a rock at Oneshoe
  • the rock hits, and Oneshoe yelps
    • she manages to stay aloft

• the stone giants continue to advance

• Droopy pulls out his cube and creates a wall of force to mostly box the giants in

• the rest of the partyrew steps out from behind the crevice

• two of the giants hit the wall

  • one falls face first
  • the two other hit the wall but manage to stay up

• Oneshoe flies over to the stone giants, persuading the to stop

  • they stop, ejecting “them, them!” to oneshoe
  • the scouting party arrives, and Oneshoe orders them to halt

• Bon mentions Nivram as droopy moves to cast lesser restoration

  • it does nothing

• Cynlant attempts to remove curse from a stone giant

  • the party determines that it isn’t strong enough

• the party begins to interrogate the stone giants on what they were doing

  • they have been searching for Nivram
  • they look haggard

• Cynlant and Bon inform them that they’ve been looking for Gracklstugh

  • their names are Slogan, Nonis, Cocksfur

• Cynlant sends a message to Nivram and the Stonespeaker from Gracklstugh

  • they have been looking for these giants for months
  • there are issues within the city that they are dealing with

• Bon scries near Gracklstugh to find a teleportation location for the stonegiants

  • he finds a location near the city, but he notices the forges run silent

• Cynlant sends to the King of Gracklstugh

  • putting down a Derro Duegar rebellion lead by illithid
    • newly hatched dragon had two heads and fled the city

• the party decides they are will teleport to Gracklstugh to help while the rest of the forces advances
