• Cynlant investigates the hallway past the dissection chamber
  • in a small chamber he spots a tall mindflayer working over a station
  • around the perimeter of the room sit brains of many shapes and sizes on various shelves
  • the mindflayer operates an alien machine in the center of the room
  • two extra tentacles adorn the mindflayer
• Cynlant messages Bon, debating if they should release the partyrew and start combat
  • Bon agrees, he readies his wiry arms to unleash the partyrew from the bag

Murdered

• Bon dumps the half of the partyrew (Oneshoe, Ally, Yvelia, Joaquin)
• Yvelia places the vault door, revealing Ront, Droopy, Sup, Glabagool
• Ally blasts the freakishly large mindflayer, barely tickling it
• the mindflayer turns, confused
• an invisible Cynlant readies his crummy looking dagger and causes it to billow with divine energy
  • the mindflayer’s eyes lock directly on to his invisible eyes
  • a brilliant energy explodes from the alien flesh of the mindflayer
    • the mindflayer’s form blinks away, as it reappears back in the vault
  • Cynlant barrels through his allies, striking again, piercing clean through its silvery plate, killing the beast

Library Time

• Cynlant tosses the illithid corpse away from the hallway
• Oneshoe roots through the illithid’s corpse, finding a leather (human????) bound journal
  • it’s in a language she cannot comprehend
  • she hands the book to Yvelia
• Yvelia and Cynlant look at the console, it is also in an uncommon language
• Bon hacks apart the mindflayer’s body
• most of the partyrew starts to take a short rest
  • Oneshoe performs a ritual and casts Detect Magic
  • she fails to detect anything
• Yvelia casts Comprehend Languages and reads that
  • the mindflayer had plans to replace the current elder brain
  • the mindflayer was working to reduce the influence of the elder brain
  • it wanted to experiment further on four raccoons

CARL and Carl

• Kyem scouts some of the unexplored rooms nearby
  • he sees two pools, brimming with tadpoles
• Nearby lies a larger 20ft pool in a dusty and abandoned room
• As he returns, he spots the mindflayers in the dissection room wrapping up their work
• Kyem looks sees four raccoons with metal constructions attached to their heads
• Cynlant and Oneshoe leave the Brain Library to peek back at the dissection room
• the mindflayers have left
  • Oneshoe and Bon march down to the dissection room and inspect bodies
  • Bon describes in excruciating detail the nature of the dissection, specifically the severing of the optic nerve from the pre-frontal cortex
• Oneshoe casts Detect Magic in the dissection room
  • she finds a potion and an alchemy jug
• Cynlant and Yvelia look at the chained raccoons
  • Cynlant discerns that the chains are magical in some nature
• Oneshoe and Bon march into the raccoon room
  • Bon casts Dispel Magic on one of the raccoons
  • it scurries off into a bundle of clothes
• Oneshoe manages to unlock the rest of the raccoons
  • she tries to speak to the three raccoons in the pile in raccoonish
  • they respond in common
• the raccoons stand up in a trench coat

• Cynlant and Yvelia roll their eyes a little

• Oneshoe and the raccoon banter a little

• Yvelia propositions the raccoon to join the head hunters for Mr. Gho’rosh Head Emporium

  • it folds into its trench coat, screeches in raccoonish
  • the head comes out and agrees, as long as it is promised little shinnies

• the three raccoons in a trench coat go by CARL and the free roaming raccoon

• Oneshoe tries to reassure Glabagool that he is still loved

• the partyrew makes their way to the tunnel which they climbed down before

  • CARL giggles then scurries up wall REALLY FUCKING FAST
  • multiple hands appear out of the coat as he climbs

• CARL almost throws down the entire rope without holding on to it

  • he is convinced by Oneshoe to hold on to it

Battle Against the Brain 🧠🐙

Mad Dash to the Elder Brain

• the partyrew starts moving back through the illithid lair
• Bon and Cynlant realize that CARL does not have protection from the Elder Brain’s influence
• the partyrew begins to charge towards the brain

Lobotomizing the Elder Brain

• CARL tumbles into the Elder Brain’s Chamber
• in a sickly green pool sits the Elder Brain
  • dark black tendrils sprout from the bottom of the brain
  • the grey matter of the brain is covered in lesions and old wounds
  • various illithid creatures and creations flank it
• CARL without psychic blocking tadpole, feels ANGER. HATRED. FURY. emanating from the brain
• Ally eldritch blasts one of the illithid, damaging it
• Cynlant sprout wings and flies behind the Elder Brain
  • he strikes twice, causing spilling the brains purple ichor
  • the brain retaliates with a tentacle hit that misses Cynlant
• the Brain releases a Psychic Screech, downing Ally and stunning Yvelia, CARL, Carl, Droopy, and Prince Derendil
• still reeling, Oneshoe dashes into and waves her wand of fireballs
  • a red hot flash of light streaks towards the brain, before detonating
  • man of the minor illithid are charred to a crisp
  • as her hand releases Oneshoe casts healing word on Ally
• the Brain strikes at Cynlant again, missing
• Bon moves in clicks, his heels and casts a Guiding Bolt on the Elder Brain
  • hit singes the grey-pink wrinkles of the brain
• Joaquin moves next to Oneshoe, and fires crossbow bolts at the mindflayer arcanist
• Glabagool stands completely motionless
• a horrific illithid creature (Brain Tyrant) sprints towards Oneshoe, and striking at Joaquin
  • the strikes land, blooding him
• Yvelia and Prince Derendil are unable to regain their composure after the psychic assault
• Ront moves forward and throws two javelins at the Arcanist, pushing it away
• Eldeth moves in to the fray, and slashes the Brain Tyrant with her scimitar
• Droopy fails to regain consciousness
• CARL and Carl look dazed and confused, as CARL is hurt by an intellect devourer
• Ally stands up than phases as she swaps places with the intellect devourer
• Cynlant strikes twice at the Elder Brain, splattering more black-purple ichor
  • as the Elder Brain’s condition begins to worsen, the partyrew feels a wave of necrotic energy wash over them
  • the energy seems to be flowing from somewhere below
• Oneshoe psychically lances the Brain Tyrant, stunning it
• Bon conjures woodland beings, wildshapes into a horse, and sprints around the room
  • images of Bon lash out against all the combatants in the room
• Yvelia and Derendil continue to stay stunned
• Joaquin stabs clean through an intellect devourer
• the Arcanist cast Fireball seriously burning most of the partyrew
  • Joaquin and Ally fall incapacitated
• Eldeth stabs twice at the Brain Tyrant swiftly, puncturing two holes in it
• Ront chuuuucks two more javelins at the Arcanist, pushing him against the far wall
• the Elder Brain thwips its tentacles at Ront and Cynlant, missing both of them
• Cynlant strikes once fell the brain, upon which a portal opens
  • the portal releases incredible amounts of malignant energy
  • he turns and strikes at the Arcanist, bloodying
• Oneshoe psychically lances the Arcanist
  • the Arcanist crumbles into a mass of tentacles and purple goop
• Joaquin uses a healing potion on Ally
• the conscious members of the partyrew wail on the corpse of the elder brain

Pigs to the Slaughter, Orcus

• Orcus, the Demon Prince of Necromancy appears through the portal
• He speaks a few words in Abyssal, after which Joaquin falls to the ground, dead
• Cynlant stabs at Orcus somewhat pitifully, to which Orcus chortles
• menacingly Orcus raises his wand, summons four swarms of skeletons in the chamber
• the partyrew starts begins to run away from the fight
• Orcus once again raises his staff, mutters an abyssal incantation, causing Prince Derendil to keel over dead
• the standing partyrew scrambles to leave
  • Droopy conjures a fae steed, swoops up Joaquin’s body and begins to run off
• Orcus swings his wand twice at Cynlant, missing twice
  • He whips his tail around, badly hurting him
• Cynlant moves with a thunderous step before flying to pick up Oneshoe
• the partyrew dashes down the hole to the lower level
• Ally casts Feather Fall as the partyrew goes down
• Oneshoe uses a bead of force to create a wall over the hole
• the skeleton army of Orcus clamours around the bubble
• as Yvelia begins to cast Teleport an arcane Blade of Disaster cleaves through the force bubble

Headporium

• the partyrew all feel motionless before plummeting into the Headporium
• Cynlant and the Boyscouts help those they can to their feet
