Day 9

Hook Horror Hunt

• surrounded by screeches of hook horrors and cackles of hyenas, the partyrew follows the tunnels the gnolls came from
  • other than various beast prints not much is in the tunnel
• Bon somewhat accurately maps out the cave
• Oneshoe continues to hear cackling in the distance, but fails to place its origin
• upon reaching another tunnel, Cynlant notices more tracks of varying sizes
  • footprints of various quadrupeds
  • some bipedal
  • one pair of foot prints of a very large creature
• the partyrew tries to move stealthily after Bon casts Pass Without Trace
  • the boyscouts surprisingly clank less than they usually do
  • Oneshoe, imitating the armor of the boyscouts is loud
• off in the distance, a gnoll hunting pack gather around a bonfire

Gnoll Encampment

• Cynlant whispers to Oneshoe, asking her to “french fry 🍟” them
  • she casts Hypnotic Pattern, disabling 2 of the 5 enemy combatants
• bunched up in the tight tunnels, most of mid and backline partyrew is unable to see the pack
• like ketchup in a glass bottle, they slowly inch their way through the precipice
• the partyrew makes quick work of the hunting party
• afterwards the party wanders back to the cavern system entrance, and hears more sounds of battle

The Hunt

• Kyem scouts the another gnoll hunting pack, with one riding a displacer beast
  • the pack is in the process of killing hook horrors in their nest
  • 4 eggs are hidden on a ledge above the nest
• the partyrew waits outside the tunnel as Cynlant prepares to strike from stealth
  • off in the distance four pairs of heavy footsteps begin to approach
• Cynlant strikes the displacer beast, and starts a mad dash back to the partyrew
• some members of the partyrew are able to attack down the tunnel, but most only prepare themselves for the incoming enemies
• the hunting party continues to advance towards the partyrew’s position, firing arrows as they approach
• Ront and Droopy throw javelins at the displacer beast, with one from each of them striking it’s eyes
  • the beast collapses, knocking it’s rider prone
• Bon turns and begins to make out the approaching heavy footsteps
  • he rolls his daylight globe, in an attempt to blind whatever approaches
• one of the Gnolls summons 4 more abyssal hyenas
• Yvelia turns, after spotting 3 demons associated with the Demogorgon she casts web
  • the demons are
    1. Barlgura
    2. Howler
    3. Ullmid
  • the approaching fiends avoid the webs, as a howler lets off a screech
  • only Yvelia is frightened, causing the webs to dissipate
• the Gnoll who was riding the displacer beast begins to wail on Cynlant
• Droopy and Ront BRUTALIZE the flind gnoll, leaving it beyond bloodied
• the Ullmid casts Power Word Stun, causing Ront to freeze up
• Oneshoe pops out from her hiding spot, conjures up a Hypnotic Pattern which incapacitates the Barlgura and Ullmid
  • she quickly dashes back into her hiding crevice
• on the other front, Ront gets bitten by and stabbed by a Gnoll
• Bon transforms into his starry form, but unlike usually he becomes a squirrel
  • somewhat befuddled, he throws a disproportionately large javelin
• suddenly, Stool conjures a mage hand and fires a pistol
  • he hits!
• the partyrew continues to pummel the gnoll hunting pack
• after the gnolls had been felled, the partyrew turned their attention to the fiends
• Yl’lib grows to a larger size to teleport to the Barlgura
  • he viciously rips out the fiends throats, causing it to fall to its death
• Bon summons 2d reflections of himself
  • his reflections and squirrels assault the Ullmid, ripping it to nearly to shreds
• Yvelia blasts a whole straight through the Ullmid, smiling as its body crumples
