• as the partyrew begins to leave, Dorhund offers an escort
• party begins making plans on how to loot the caves again and report the empty scabbards to the police
• cynlant, yvelia, and the boyscouts will go into the caves while oneshoe and bon bring the city watch
• cynlant begins shifting his form with eldritch energy, casting disguise person many times

West Cleft Adventures

Scaled Wings

• as the group begins advancing towards there destinations, a large reptilian creatures bats its wings in the darkness of the cavern
• cynlant approaches a duergar and asks
  • the fuck is that?
• it was themberchaud the great wyrmsmith
• the group breathes in some of the city’s smog
  • droopy begins to break into a heavy cough, as thick black phlegm begins to dribble out
  • droopy has contracted gracklelung
• oneshoe listens to droopy’s lungs with her clamshell stethoscope
  • it sounds bad
• a light shines from cynlants hand, as he heals droopy from his illness
• the group begins to fashion makeshift face masks (advantage on rolls against gracklelung)
• after donning their masks, the group splits

Foray into the Cleft

• cynlant and yvelia approach the guards
• after flashing the passes they ask for their business
• yvelia says “we’re here on a private investigation”
  • the guards ask for more details, and yvelia convinces them that no more details can be shared
• as they enter the cleft, cynlant casts invisibility on ront and droopy
• yvelia and cynlant disguise themselves
• as the group marches forward a glyph lights up in the sky and begins to alarm
• the group dashes off into an alley, as a derro asks cynlant “did you see where they went”
• cynlant tries to lie, but is forced to say “they are near but I don’t know where”
• they are able to convince the derro, and he runs off to join the search
• the group keeps walking, when another glyph sounds
• they begin to sprint forward
• another alarm begins to sounds
• eventually they make it to the caves, and return to their normal forms

Resting in the caves

• the cavern group advances to an empty, safe part of the cavern
• cynlant asks to take a short rest, upon which yvelia reveals she sacrificed her pact magic until the next dawn
• she attempts to
• cynlant attempts to cast remove curse on ront
• he immediately asks if he could have a drink

To Overlake Hold

MEANWHILE

• bon and oneshoe get distracted, and gamble
  • big money bon doubles his platinum pieces
  • oneshoe loses it all
• both groups keep in contact over rapport spores
• eventually the wacky goofy squad makes it to the hold
• a guard speaks them in undercommon, upon which bon begins to repeat black skull, black skull, black skull in undercommon
• the guard disappears, and returns with the captain

Freedom at Last?

• Captain Black Skull asks if they were successful in their mission
• oneshoe banters back, and the captain decides to take them to a separate interrogation room
• as soon as they enter the room oneshoe begins info-dumping everything
• bon adds in, almost talking over oneshoe at most points
• as they keep talking, the captain begins to look at the time and shake her head in regret
• the captain expresses disgust with their verbosity and meandering
• bon wildshapes into a horse
• oneshoe talks about the derro they were supposed to tail

• an invisible duergar puts both of them in manacles
• after pointing out the general location of the cave on a map
  • they are unshackled and allowed to leave
• oneshoe keeps talking as the Captain tries to push them out
• she begins to blabber about buppido and the gnome her murdered
• the Captain agrees to not cause issues if she sees oneshoe and bon again
• under her breath she says good riddance as they finally leave
• oneshoe and bon start to make their way to the whorlstone cave

March to the cave

• oneshoe and bon are ignored as they stealth their way through the cleft towards the cave
• the derro are still on high alert from the prior alarm soundings
• once in the cave they investigate the area near buppidos corpse again
• bon and oneshoe

Whorlstone Caves

Locked Gate

• the two separate groups meet together, and begin to march towards the verras rat
• a locked wooden gate lies in front of the group as they near the rat
• an intellect devourer skulks near the door
• bon, oneshoe, and yvelia decide to stealth near the gate, while the boyscouts stay back
• as they approach, a voice tells them to state their business
• yvelia lies and says they are looking for a cat
• oneshoe pops in, says they are looking for a verras rat for their talking cat
• they refuse to grant accesses, but are willing to get a rat after their shift change
• oneshoe begins yapping for at least an hour
• the guards eventually relent saying they will get the rat for free if oneshoe shuts up
• the group agrees, and the guards say they will deliver the rat to a mossy patch in the caves next day at noon
• the group walks towards the obelisk and egg cavern

Obelisk and Egg

• yvelia unearths the egg
• the egg gets shwoomped into oneshoe’s bag of holding
• yvelia begins to construct a dirt wall to block the cavern
  • it looks really bad, even with bon giving tips
  • it is oddly geometric, like minecraft blocks
• the boyscouts touch up the wall, cleaving rock from the ceiling and breaking up some clumps
  • cynlant swings droopy like a mace against the ceiling
  • ront acts as the site foreman
• a mysterious goblin in a high-vis vest and flashes a sign in the background
  • cynlant explains his father has told him about the entity, its the god of construction

Hunt for the Hand

• the group returns to the gorilla cages from before
• everyone begins to stealth forward
• the stench of death and decay wafts over the party
• a lone derro stands over a massive pit

Fetid Pit

• oneshoe throws a bead of force at the derro
  • it explodes in a glassy bubble, knocking them off of the platform
  • the derro screams out “Oh fuck” as they land in the dirt
• multiple zombies begin to stir off of the cavern floor
• oneshoe sees a crevice near the back of the pit, with a patch of fungus
• the boy scouts begin their assault on the zombies
• oneshoe has a change of heart and tries to check if the derro is good
  • he’s associated with the council of savants
• as the party attacks, the derro goes invisible
• the party eventually kill the derro, then blast the remaining undead to death
• oneshoe climbs down into the pit, and commences looting
• the party begins to leave the cave and eventually, the cleft itself

Egg-celent Investigation

• the group returns to the inn, and is greeted by the motley crew
• cynlant begins to ask the innkeep about the keeper of the flames
  • they assist the wrymsmith and are in the southern part of the city
• the partyrew discusses their next steps, and their future meeting with the deep king

Keepers of the Flame

• the party begins to walk towards the southern furrow district, location of the keepers of the flame
• two duergar guard the headquarters
• a strong sulfuric smell permeates the air
• yvelia lies and says that the party are dragon researchers
• the duergar say the keepers of the flame provide themberchaud with wealth and he lights their forgers
• yvelia says they are “friends of the clawed ones”
• yvelia was an accountant intern at a religous cult, she knows about ladguer
  • he is the god of the duergar, and the guards have his iconography on their armor
• the smell of sulfur grows as a red dragon head rounds the corner
• themberchaud the heavy-set dragon speaks in common saying “we don’t often get surface dwellers down here”

Themberchaud’s Lair

• the dragon tells the party to follow him to his lair, and for the guards to not follow
• as the party enters, he tells them to come closer
• the dragon sits himself upon his hoard of gold and begins to speak with the party
• oneshoe mentions to themby that her and bon are criminals
• yvelia mentions they are travelers and transients
• thembys is arrogant and believes the city is keeping something from him
• he offers his personal protection, if the party works for him in routing out the dissidents
  • Gar-tokar the head of the keepers to the king himself
• themby mentions that he will take the city for himself if he’s been betrayed
• oneshoe and the rest of the party tells themby about the cult of the demigorgon
• cynalnt and yvelia notice themby is angry about the derro cult
• themby rewards the party with badges in his likeness
• as the party is almost out of the lair, themby begins to exit
• a new duergar is present outside the lair
